3 Mothers To Learn From In The Bible
Mary, the mother of Jesus, has shown us that when things around us seem crazy and impossible, God is in control. Only He can see the big picture and we need to trust Him. It definitely wasn’t easy to tell her friends and family that she was carrying the Son of God… but Mary chose to bow her knee and heart to God’s will, and God blessed her because of it.
“Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word…And Mary said, “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.”…But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart.”
~ Luke 1:38 46-47 2:19
Hannah’s Faith And Dedication to the Lord is a significant example to everyone; not just mothers… For years and years, Hannah waited for God to bless her with a child. When God gave her Samuel, she immediately dedicated him to the Lord, giving back her only son. Because of Hannah’s faith, God blessed her with five more children!
“For this child, I prayed, and the LORD has granted me my petition that I made to him. Therefore I have lent him to the LORD. As long as he lives, he is lent to the LORD.”
~1 Samuel 1:27-28
Sarah, the mother of Isaac, teaches us that when we are patient and wait on God, he will provide. Just like Hannah, Sarah waited for many years to have a child. After dealing with doubt and frustration, she continued to keep her hope and trust in God. She was 90 years old when she became pregnant with Isaac…God always keeps his promises.
“By faith, Sarah herself received power to conceive, even when she was past the age since she considered him faithful who had promised.”
